In accordance with Article 13 of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which has become applicable on 25 May 2018, we inform you below about the collection of personal data when using our website and your rights.

Personal data is all information that can be related to you personally, e.g. name, address, telephone number and email addresses. When you contact us by email or via a contact form, the information you provide will be stored by us in order to answer your questions or to provide you with requested material. Consent to this must be given for the specific application in question.
We delete the data accruing in this context after the storage is no longer required or restrict the processing if there are legal retention obligations.
If we use contracted service providers for individual functions of our offer, we will inform you about the respective processes and the storage periods. Otherwise, we do not pass on your data to third parties.
You have the following rights with regard to your data
- the right to information,
- the right to rectification or erasure,
- the right to restrict processing,
- the right to object to the processing; and
- the right to data portability (obtaining a copy, "taking away" their data).
You also have the right to complain to a data protection supervisory authority about the processing of your personal data by us. The supervisory authority within the meaning of Section 9 of the German Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG new) is the Federal Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information.

- Legal basis for processing: Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR
- Recipients or categories of recipients of the personal data: The project team, employees of the section of the respective scholarship program to which they have applied, the jurors, the IT and Finance departments, the Executive Board and the Senate. No data is transferred to third parties, with the exception of our service providers as part of order processing.
Our service provider in the procurement process is Momentive Europe UC. - There is an intention to transfer the personal data to a third country or international organization to the extent that SurveyMonkey Apply has your data processed in Canada. See also:
https://www.surveymonkey.com/mp/legal/privacy/ - Duration for which the personal data will be stored or, if this is not possible, the criteria for determining this duration: The data will be deleted 6 months after completion of the application process. If a grant is awarded to you, we will inform you separately about the use of the data within the framework of the special grant INITIAL 2 – New Cooperations.
- The provision of personal data is not required by law or contract. However, the provision of personal data is required for the award of a scholarship. You are not obliged to provide the personal data. If you do not provide the data, we will not be able to consider you in the award process.
- Automated decision-making does not take place.
